After a sales order is approved in NetSuite, a staff member must manually re-enter customer details, order weights, and shipping preferences into a separate DHL portal or third-party shipping station. This manual handoff creates a bottleneck, introduces the risk of data entry errors, and significantly delays the time between order approval and physical dispatch.
By integrating DHL Parcel directly with NetSuite, the shipment creation process becomes fully automated and event-driven. The moment a sales order reaches an "approved" status in NetSuite, a background process triggers the DHL API. All relevant order is instantly transmitted to DHL. A DHL shipment is created without any manual intervention.
Even when a shipment is created, generating the physical shipping label remains a block. Users have to log into a separate DHL portal, search for the newly created shipment, manually map the order details, and generate the label. The label must then be downloaded as a PDF, saved to a local machine or network folder, and manually printed.
Using the DHL API, the system queries the created shipment and requests a shipping label. The API returns the label, which is then automatically uploaded and stored as a URL directly on the NetSuite sales order or fulfillment record.
